Rivera-Romo Wins T. Carl Brown Scholarship

Chatham Charter Senior Ariana Rivera-Romo has been selected by the NCDECA Foundation as the recipient of the T. Carl Brown Scholarship in the amount of $40,000. She was selected from a pool of applicants from North Carolina and is the first Chatham Charter student to receive this scholarship.

The T. Carl Brown Scholarship provides financial assistance to DECA members at high schools in North Carolina who plan to study business-related fields at a college in any state.

“Ariana is incredibly deserving of this scholarship and we couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments as a DECA officer and member,” said Chatham Charter DECA advisor Ashley Wood. “We are grateful to NCDECA for providing this financial support to NC high school students and can’t wait to see all that Ariana accomplishes in her future endeavors.”

Rivera-Romo plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill in the Fall to major in Business. She has served as a Chatham Charter DECA chapter officer for the past two years, is a founding member of the Castle Cafe, and has competed at the District and State levels all four years and the International level for the past two. She will travel to Anaheim, CA in April with eight other students to compete at her final International Career Development Conference.
