Morehead-Cain Recognitions

Adam and Spillman

Congratulations are in order! Senior Adam Reese is a Morehead-Cain semifinalist, and marketing teacher/DECA advisor Larisa Spillman has been named a Morehead-Cain Impact Educator. Adam identified Mrs. Spillman as the educator who has had the most profound impact on him.

“I am deeply honored that Adam nominated me for this recognition and am beyond lucky to get to work with students like him every day. Adam has been a stellar leader and contributor in his years at Chatham Charter, and I’m rooting for him to make it to the next level of the Morehead-Cain Scholarship process, but no matter what, his accomplishments speak for themselves and the sky’s the limit for him,” said Mrs. Spillman.

Morehead-Cain is the nation’s first merit scholarship program, providing an incredible array of opportunity and adventure for scholars, as well as a lifelong connection to our alumni community. We seek driven, courageous, and inquisitive leaders interested in embracing unknown and uncommon experiences and cultivating a legacy of positive impact wherever they go. Adam is awaiting news about whether he advances to the next round of Morehead-Cain consideration. We wish him well.

The Morehead-Cain program recognizes the crucial role of K–12 educators and recognizes educators who play key roles in the lives of their applicants. Mrs. Spillman will receive a special appreciation packet soon as well as have opportunity for the summer of 2026 through the program.
