Athletics Wrap-Up

2023 Spring Season
The Chatham Charter Knights had an outstanding spring sports season in 2023. All varsity sports qualified for the 1A state playoffs. The women’s soccer, softball and men’s tennis teams played in the first round. The baseball team played into the third round of the playoffs. The golfers played in the regional tournament. Twelve members of the men’s and women’s track and field teams qualified for the regional meet with five going on to participate in the state meet. Two team members, Lucas Smith and Tamaya Walden, placed in events at the state level.
The following Chatham Charter high school student-athletes have been recognized by the Central Tar Heel Conference for 2023 spring sports honors:
Baseball
All-Conference – Aidan Allred, Zach Cartrette, Luke Johnson, Jonah Ridgill, Weston Phillips, and Cameron Turner
All-Conference Honorable Mention – Hunter Murphy, Tyner Williams, and Jace Young

HIGH SCHOOL
Overall during the three sports seasons of the 2022-2023 school year, the varsity Knights found success within the Central Tar Heel Conference and in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) state 1A playoffs.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Chatham Charter middle school sports teams were successful in the Mid-State Middle School Conference. All teams participated in their conference tournaments. Several teams were regular season champions and advanced to tournament finals. The girls’ basketball and softball teams were regular season champions and won their tournaments. The boys’ basketball team was regular season champion and conference tournament runner-up.
ATHLETES OF THE YEAR
The Middle School Athletes of the Year were Hannah Headen and Ryder Murphy. The High School Athletes of the Year were Aidan Allred and Tamaya Walden.
