Chatham Charter is proud of the successes of its alumni and how they can inspire current and future students. Over the course of the summer of 2023, Knight News will feature alumni from its 2016-2022 graduating classes. These are only a sample of the incredible achievements Chatham Charter graduates are finding as a result of the opportunities they made the most of before and after high school graduation. Staff would enjoy highlighting additional alumni. Contact Beth McCullough (bmccullough@chathamcharter.org) to share good news about graduates.

Josh and Melissa (Lafone) Yarborough (Classes of 2018 and 2017)

United States Air Force Senior Airman (SrA) Josh Yarborough and his wife, Melissa (Lafone), are Chatham Charter graduates who met as high school students and later married.

Josh is working on a college degree in Logistics. His current Air Force assignment focuses on assisting families and other military personnel in transitioning from one base to another. The cargo side of his job involves supporting the acquisition of parts for military transports and other equipment necessary for many military jobs. The Yarboroughs have been based at Lackland AFB since December of 2018, but will be moving to Offett AFB in Nebraska as of August 2023.

Melissa finished her Associate of Arts degree at CCCC in 2018 and is an artist.

Alex Meredith (Class of 2018)

In addition to having a degree in math, Alex Meredith has a passion for music. His music is regularly played on Back Porch Music (WUNC 91.5). Alex won first place mandolin and best overall musician at the High Falls Fiddlers’ Convention earlier this year and recently won first place at the 2023 Mt Airy Fiddlers’ Convention. He is currently pondering an offer of a gig with a professional band to go on tour in the fall.
